    Welcome to the online home of the Ocean Springs Police Department (OSPD). We strive to provide effective and reliable police services to the citizens of Ocean Springs and our visitors. We do our utmost to keep the community safe and secure, and to create an environment in which the public knows that they can call on the OSPD for prompt assistance when needed.     Mark Dunston, Chief of Police

    The Ocean Springs Police Department is led by Chief Mark S. Dunston. He directs operations of the OSPD with the assistance of a Deputy Chief, three Captains, and an Executive Assistant. This administrative team oversees four patrol shifts, the traffic unit, the investigations unit, task force officers, animal control, corrections, dispatch, records, warrants, the reserve officer program, training, and accreditation.

    The Ocean Springs Police Department is accredited by the Mississippi Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission (MSLEAC). The purpose of MSLEAC is to establish professional standards for Mississippi law enforcement agencies. The Commission develops and administers the program in order to recognize professional excellence in the law enforcement community. To maintain accreditation, the Ocean Springs Police Department must comply with one-hundred-twenty-one standards for state accreditation during a two-year self-assessment.     Code RED Emergency Notification Service
    Click here to sign up for Code RED emergency notifications, a free emergency notification service used in Jackson County, Mississippi, to notify you via phone, text, or email of emergency-related information. You must sign up to participate in this service and the information will come to your cell phone no matter where you are at the time of the emergency.
