Mayor of Ocean Springs
Connie M. Moran was elected Mayor of her hometown, Ocean Springs, Mississippi, in June 2005, and is now in her third term. Ms. Moran has twenty-five years experience in state and local government, and has provided marketing and business development consulting. She served three years as Director of Jackson County Economic Development until March 1999. Prior to this position, Ms. Moran served as Managing Director of the State of Mississippi European Office in Frankfurt, Germany for five years, recruiting new business and industry to the state on behalf of the Mississippi Development Authority. Ms. Moran holds Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Finance/Economics and International Commerce from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., and received a Fulbright Scholarship to conduct graduate research at the Institute of World Economics in Kiel, Germany. Prior to serving the State of Mississippi in Europe, Ms. Moran worked as an economist with the World Trade Organization in Geneva, Switzerland. She was awarded a fellowship from the Robert Bosch Foundation for American Leadership in Germany. In June 2006, she was honored by her Bosch Alumni colleagues as “Bosch Alumna of the Year”. Ms. Moran is active in community volunteer and civic activities, and is a member of Rotary International in Ocean Springs. She serves as a board director for Jackson County Boys and Girls Clubs. She has also served on the Jackson County Port Authority Board of Commissioners and on the Board of Trustees of the Walter Anderson Museum of Art. She has one daughter, Magdeleine, age 21, and is married to Jack Rosen.
