    Welcome to the Fire Department

    The Ocean Springs Fire Department has twenty-four (24) full-time firefighters, six Lieutenants, three Battalion Chiefs, one Training Officer, one Fire Inspector, one Deputy Chief, one Fire Chief, and one Administrative Assistant located at three stations. Fire personnel rotate three shifts by being on duty for 24 hours and off duty for 48 hours.

    Mission Statement
    The primary mission of the Ocean Springs Fire Department is to provide a range of programs designed to protect the lives and property of the public within the City of Ocean Springs from the adverse effects of fires and/or exposure to dangerous conditions created by either man or nature and to address the issues of fire and life safety.

    Jeff Ponson, Fire Chief
    The Fire Department is led by Chief Jeffrey Ponson. Chief Ponson is a lifelong resident of the MS Coast and 27-year veteran firefighter for the Ocean Springs Fire Department. He was promoted to Chief in July 2009. Chief Ponson also served for two years as the Deputy Fire Chief for the Ocean Springs Fire Department.
