Substance on OS Beaches Not Petroleum Based; Beaches Reopen with Safety Advisory
Ocean Springs, MS – MS DEQ has determined that the substance sighted on Front and East Beaches is not petroleum based. Front and East Beaches are open. A few scattered tar balls estimated to be the size of a quarter have been sighted. As a precaution, city officials advise citizens not to handle the tar balls.
