Ocean Springs, MS – The public is invited to join city officials in the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Chester M. McPhearson, Jr. Pier on Front Beach Drive, Saturday, March 21, 2 p.m. – 4 pm.

The pier is named in honor of civic leader and businessman, Chester M. McPhearson, Jr.   Mr. McPhearson served as Ocean Springs mayor from 1981-1989 and alderman, Ward 4 from 1953 – 1961.

The ADA pier is 531 ft. long, with two pavillions, a fishing platform with fish cleaning station, and lighting.  It can also accommodate beach shower facilities.  FEMA provided $730,745 – the majority of funding for the new pier.
