OSPD to Enforce Beach Parking and Safety Rules

Ocean Springs, MS – Due to an increase in littering and violations of the city ordinances on East Beach and Front Beach, the Ocean Springs Police Department will increase patrols and begin issuing citations to violators.

“During the summer months, Ocean Springs Traffic Division will increase their presence on East Beach and Front Beach and advise all who partake in the beach to adhere to all rules and city ordinances along with traffic statutes,” said Captain William Jackson, OSPD Traffic Division.

The posted rules on Front Beach area:

  • Parking hours 6 a.m. until 10 p.m.
  • Park with the flow of traffic.
  • After hours parking for fishing (permit required). Designated areas only.
  • Bon fires (permit required) designated areas only.
  • No glass allowed, aluminum cans on seawall only.
  • All animals – dogs, cats, etc. must be on a leash.
  • Clean up after your pets – Ordinance no. 1-2004
  • No loud noise – Ordinance no. 14-2007
  • No camping (overnight).
  • No commercial vendors without permits.
  • One way traffic from Friday midnight through Sunday midnight.*
  • All permits may be obtained from Ocean Springs Police Department.

Front Beach Drive is a one-way road from midnight Friday to midnight Sunday from Porter Avenue to Jackson Avenue.  Parking in the East Beach area is permitted in designated areas only and must be with the flow of traffic.  Bon fires are permitted at two locations on East Beach: Halstead and East Beach and San Souci and East Beach.  Permits are required.
