Ocean Springs, MS – Three officers with the Ocean Springs Police Department, Lt. Bucky Harris, Lt. Vincent Spiriti, and Lt. John Flowers have recently graduated from the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command program. Lt. Steven Futral and Lt. Patrolman Matthew Morvant graduated from the Southern Regional Public Safety Institute, University of Southern Mississippi at Camp Shelby in mid-November, as mandated by state requirements.
“The Ocean Springs Police Department has the highest number of graduates from police command colleges on the Mississippi Coast,” said Police Chief Lionel Cothern. “All of our supervisors at rank of lieutenant and above have attended these colleges. We are proud of these officers and the expertise that they can offer to the department and in serving the public.”
Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command is an intensive ten-week program that prepares law enforcement managers for senior positions by combining academic principles with practical applications.
