OSPD Implements Neighborhood Watch Program

Ocean Springs, MS – The Ocean Springs Police Department – Police Reserves will begin implementing the crime prevention program, Neighborhood Watch beginning in late June.  The successful anticrime program is returning after several years of absence due to a recent increase in auto and home burglaries.

According to Ken Wilson, Director of OSPD Police Reserves, the Neighborhood Watch program is a successful partnership between citizens and the police department in eliminating neighborhood crime.

“In order to keep auto and home burglaries down, we are asking citizens to be our eyes,” said Officer Wilson.

The Police Reserves is currently establishing the program in neighborhoods throughout Ocean Springs.  If citizens are interested in forming a program in their neighborhood, please contact Officer Wilson or Officer Jonathan Navas at OSPD Police Reserves, 228-875-2211.  Officer Navas can also be contacted at 228-217-1053.

Once a Neighborhood Watch program is established in a designated neighborhood, the neighborhood will receive a Neighborhood Watch sign.  Signs from the former program are currently being removed.
