OSFD Begins Annual Fire Hydrant Testing
Ocean Springs, MS – The Ocean Springs Fire Department will begin testing fire hydrants throughout the city as part of its annual safety check for equipment on Monday, March 15. The department wants to remind citizens that it is not unusual for the hydrant test to cause line sediment to unsettle and discolor the water supplied to their homes. To alleviate this, citizens should run their faucets for several minutes to flush it out and use the faucet with the most distance from the main line. Hydrant testing should conclude by early May.
“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, ” said Jeffrey Ponson, Chief, OSFD. “We appreciate citizens’ patience as the fire department continues its efforts to ensure quality fire protection for the city.”
