OS PW Completes Water Line for USM GCRL Cedar Point Expansion
Ocean Springs, MS –
A new water line will soon supply the University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast Research Lab’s Cedar Point expansion site, thanks to work completed by the City of Ocean Springs Public Works Department. The department made a six inch tap on a water main under Park Road in Gulf Islands National Seashore on Tuesday night, September 15. All work was completely in approximately four hours.
The project was accomplished under an agreement with the National Park Service and the GCRL Cedar Point expansion site.
“The City of Ocean Springs agreed to supply water to the Cedar Point expansion site. Jerry Eubanks, Parks Superintendent, Gulf Islands National Seashore; Dr. Tom McIlwain GCRL Cedar Point Project Coordinator, and Andre’ Kaufman, Director of Public Works, met and agreed on a easy plan to supply the Cedar Point expansion site with Ocean Springs water,” said Greg Denyer, City of Ocean Springs Alderman, Ward 4. “What is amazing was the cooperation among the three parties to solve this issue quickly; it’s really a great example of three large entitites working together to make something happen.”
