OS Mayor’s Youth Council Receives United Way Award
MYC Receives United Way Award
Ocean Springs, MS – The City of Ocean Springs Mayor’s Youth Council has received the Youth Community Service Team of the Year award at the 23rd annual Volunteers are Important People event hosted by the United Way of Jackson and George Counties. The Mayor’s Youth Council was recognized for contributions to the annual Arbor Day event, city-wide blood drives, and a successful campaign to make all city parks tobacco-free.
The group received a plaque and a $250 grant. The Mayor’s Youth Council has chosen to donate the grant to the American Cancer Society in honor of Sue Mitchell Ray, who recently died following a long battle with cancer.
