Ocean Springs Receives Technical Assistance, Energy Audit
Ocean Springs, MS – The City of Ocean Springs has received a free technical assistance and energy audit through the Mississippi Development Authority Technical Energy Audit Assistance Program. Funding for this program is made through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The energy audit is valued at approximately $10,000.
The technical assistance and energy audit program is designed to reduce energy costs incurred by municipal and county governments by improving the energy efficiency and operating performance of all public buildings. The Pickering Firm, Inc. of Biloxi is currently conducting the audit on public buildings in Ocean Springs.
“Receiving the energy audit will clearly show us what we can do to reduce lighting, heating and cooling costs in our public buildings,” said Kristen Holley, Project Coordinator for the City of Ocean Springs. “Once the audit has been completed, the City can then begin competing for the Energy Efficiency Retrofit Grant which will help us make the changes recommended by the energy audit.”
