Ocean Springs Offers Diverse Opportunities for Citizens to Participate on Boards, Commissions

Ocean Springs, MS – The City of Ocean Springs is accepting applications from local citizens for potential appointments to the Civil Service Commission and the Cemetery Board.  Individuals who are interested should submit a completed Candidate Profile by January 12 to the Office of the Mayor at City Hall, 1018 Porter Avenue.

 

The Cemetery Board advises the Mayor and the Board of Aldermen on Evergreen, the city cemetery.  The Civil Service Commission advises the Mayor and Board of Aldermen on employee relations and Civil Service rules and regulations. 

 

Candidate Profile forms for Boards and Commissions can be downloaded from the city website, www.oceansprings-ms.gov.  They are also available in the Office of the City Clerk, at City Hall, 1018 Porter Avenue, Ocean Springs, MS  39564.  Interested citizens may call 875-4236 and ask that a form be sent by mail, e-mail or fax.  All nominations received by the deadline will be reviewed by the Board of Aldermen.

 

Terms of appointment vary from one to six years.  Most Boards require members to be residents of the City of Ocean Springs and some have special qualification requirements.
