Mayor’s Youth Council to Hold Blood Drive Monday, March 5
Ocean Springs, MS— The City of Ocean Springs’ Mayor’s Youth Council will hold a city-wide blood drive on Monday, March 5, 2012 in the City Hall Board Room from 10:00 – 5:00. Donors will receive a green “lucky lifesaver” t-shirt, plus family blood coverage and a cholesterol check.
The Youth Council is coordinating the blood drive with The Blood Center in Pascagoula as a service project.
The mission of the Mayor’s Youth Council is to educate local youth about municipal government and to encourage youth to proactively address community concerns and volunteer their services.
“This is the fourth year that the Youth Council has sponsored this important activity,” said Mayor Connie Moran. “It is a great benefit to our local hospitals, and the donors and their families will be entitled to free blood units if they ever require it, which is a tremendous cost savings. The Board of Aldermen and I encourage everyone to come support their effort.”
