Earth Day Event Set for Saturday, April 25

Ocean Springs, MS – An Earth Day community-wide picnic and econology-friendly activities are scheduled for Saturday, April 25, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., at Little Children’s Park, Washington Avenue, downtown Ocean Springs.

Sponsored by Delta Sanitation, the picnic of hamburgers, hotdogs, soft drinks and/or water, and snowballs are provided free of charge to all who attend.  Soft drinks are provided by O’Charley’s Restaurant and Warren Oil.  In addition to the picnic, Delta Sanitation will provide the Eco-Maze for exploration.  The life size maze is designed to teach recycling awareness as participants navigate their way through the maze.

Five recycling-themed games will be offered to children at the event.  Prizes will be given to all participants.  All food and prizes are supplied on a first come, first serve basis.

New to this year’s event is a giant inflatable recycling truck that children can crawl into and play then slide to exit.  The Ocean Springs Fire Department will be on site with a ladder truck and a robotic fire truck, “Patches and Pumper.”

Guests to the event in Little Children’s Park may use the new restroom facilities built on the park’s premises.  Delta Sanitation is also providing a mobile restroom trailer.
