City of OS Offers Diverse Opportunities for Citizens to Participate on Boards, Commissions

Ocean Springs, MS – The City of Ocean Springs is accepting applications from local citizens for potential appointments to a variety of boards and commissions.  Individuals who are interested should submit a completed Candidate Profile by June 7 to the Office of the Mayor at City Hall, 1018 Porter Avenue.

Candidate profile forms for boards and commissions can be downloaded from the city website, www.oceansprings-ms.gov.  They are available in the Office of the City Clerk, at City Hall, 1018 Porter Avenue, Ocean Springs, MS  398564.  Interested citizens may call 228-875-4236 and ask that a form be sent by mail, e-mail or fax.  All nominations received by the deadline will be reviewed by the Board of Aldermen.

Terms of appointment vary from one to six years.  Most boards require members to be Ocean Springs residents, and some have special qualification requirements.

The following is a list of boards and commissions with current openings:  Building Board of Adjustments and Appeals, Historic Preservation Commission, Library Board, Planning Commissions, Zoning and Adjustment, and CTA representative.
