MAYOR AND BOARD OF ALDERMEN
CITY OF OCEAN SPRINGS
SPECIAL CALL MEETING SEPTEMBER 6, 2011
Be it remembered that the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the City of Ocean Springs met in a Special Call meeting at the Ocean Springs City Hall in the City of Ocean Springs at 5:00 p.m. on September 6, 2011. Mayor Moran presiding, Aldermen Ross, Gill, McDonnell, Cody and Denyer were present. Also present were City Clerk Shelly Ferguson and City Attorney John Edwards. Aldermen Hagan was absent at roll call but arrived later in the meeting. Alderman Dalgo was absent.
The Mayor called the meeting to order.
The Special Call Meeting is for the purpose of any and all matters pertaining to Executive Session regarding personnel issues in the Fire, Public Works, Mayor, HR and Planning Departments and discussion on any and all issues related to the FY12 Budget.
Alderman Hagan arrives at the meeting.
Motion was made by Alderman Cody, seconded by Alderman Gill and unanimously carried to go into closed session to determine the necessity of going into executive session.
The City Clerk returned to the meeting and announced a motion was made by Alderman Cody, seconded by Alderman Hagan and unanimously carried to remain in executive session to discuss personnel issues regarding budget in Mayor, Planning, Public Works, HR and Fire Departments.
Motion was made by Alderman Cody, seconded by Alderman Ross and unanimously carried to return to regular session.
The City Clerk gave an overview of the capital projects for FY11-12. There is $100,000.00 for design engineer for the Government Street Improvement project and $79,000 for local match for the FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant to lift the south end of Washington Avenue for evacuation purposes. The Mayor stated new building permits in FY11-12 would generate $78,000 to $80,000 in revenue from permit fees.
Motion was made by Alderman Cody, seconded by Alderman Ross and unanimously carried to approve the FY11-12 budget as presented with minor changes.
Motion was made by Alderman Cody, seconded by Alderman Gill and unanimously carried to adjourn the Special Call meeting.
