MAYOR AND BOARD OF ALDERMEN
CITY OF OCEAN SPRINGS

SPECIAL CALL MEETING OCTOBER 9, 2007

Be it remembered that the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the City of Ocean Springs met in a Special Call Meeting at City Hall in the City of Ocean Springs at 8:00 a.m. on October 9, 2007. Mayor Moran presiding, Aldermen Gill, McDonnell, Lloyd, Weaver and Denyer were present. Aldermen Dalgo and Hagan were absent. Also present were Interim City Clerk Shelly Ferguson and City Attorney John Edwards.

The Mayor called the meeting to order.

The Special Call Meeting is for the purpose of discussion and approval of items for the Bridge Celebration.

Motion was made by Alderman Weaver and seconded by Alderman McDonnell to approve the designs and logo for the Bridge Celebration (Exhibit 1). Motion carried with Aldermen Gill, McDonnell, Lloyd and Weaver voting aye and Alderman Denyer voting nay.

Motion was made by Alderman McDonnell and seconded by Alderman Gill to spread the Rainbow Water letter upon the minutes (Exhibit 2). Motion carried with Aldermen Gill, McDonnell, Weaver and Denyer voting aye and Alderman Lloyd voting nay.

Motion was made by Alderman McDonnell, seconded by Alderman Gill and unanimously carried to authorize overtime for City personnel to support the Bridge Celebration (Exhibit 3).

The Mayor presented an agenda and a budget for the event (Exhibit 4).

Alderman Weaver left the meeting at this point.

Motion was made by Alderman McDonnell, seconded by Alderman Denyer and unanimously carried to authorize the Mayor and the City Attorney to work with the Ocean Springs Yacht Club for the use of their property for the Bridge Celebration.

Motion was made by Alderman Gill and seconded by Alderman Denyer for the City to contribute up to $20,000.00 for the Bridge Celebration if there is an additional $15,000.00 raised by corporate donors for the purpose of advertising the resources of the City. Motion failed with Alderman Gill voting aye and Aldermen McDonnell, Lloyd and Denyer voting nay.

Motion was made by Alderman McDonnell and seconded by Alderman Lloyd for the City to contribute $10,000.00 for the Bridge Celebration. Motion carried with Aldermen McDonnell, Lloyd and Denyer voting aye and Alderman Gill voting nay.

Motion was made by Alderman McDonnell, seconded by Alderman Lloyd and unanimously carried to amend the budget by $10,000.00 for the Bridge Celebration to advertise the resources of the City.

Motion was made by Alderman McDonnell, seconded by Alderman Gill and unanimously carried to adjourn the special call meeting.
