MAYOR AND BOARD OF ALDERMEN
CITY OF OCEAN SPRINGS
SPECIAL CALL MEETING OCTOBER 22, 2007
Be it remembered that the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the City of Ocean Springs met in a Special Call Meeting at City Hall in the City of Ocean Springs at 8:00 a.m. on October 22, 2007. Mayor Moran presiding, Aldermen Gill, McDonnell, Weaver and Dalgo were present. Aldermen Lloyd, Denyer and Hagan were absent. Also present was Interim City Clerk Shelly Ferguson. City Attorney John Edwards was absent.
The Mayor called the meeting to order.
The Special Call Meeting is for any and all matters pertaining to the Bridge Celebration and to approve payment for Docket of Claims.
Motion was made by Alderman Dalgo, seconded by Alderman Gill and unanimously carried to authorize the Mayor to accept donations on behalf of the City for the bridge celebration.
Motion was made by Alderman Gill, seconded by Alderman McDonnell and unanimously carried to create a Mayor’s Council on Youth to assist with the bridge celebration and other civic projects.
Motion was made by Alderman Dalgo, seconded by Alderman Gill and unanimously carried to authorize bridge celebration donations to be put in the budget and expended accordingly.
Motion was made by Alderman Weaver, seconded by Alderman McDonnell and unanimously carried to approve payment of the Docket of Claims (Exhibit 1).
Motion was made by Alderman McDonnell and seconded by Alderman Weaver to authorize beer permits to sell on public property for vendors applying for the bridge celebration and waive the Open Container Ordinance for Thursday, November 1, 2007. Following discussion, motion was withdrawn by Alderman McDonnell.
Motion was made by Alderman McDonnell, seconded by Alderman Dalgo and unanimously carried to waive the Open Container Ordinance for Thursday, November 1, 2007.
Motion was made by Alderman Weaver, seconded by Alderman Gill and unanimously carried to allow the Mayor and Police Chief to authorize beer permits for authorized vendors that have proper insurance and a license.
Mr. Mickey Williams with Merchants and Marine Bank thanked the Mayor and Board of Aldermen for allowing them to be a part of the bridge celebration and presented a donation check.
Motion was made by Alderman McDonnell, seconded by Alderman Weaver and unanimously carried to adjourn the special call meeting.
