MAYOR AND BOARD OF ALDERMEN
CITY OF OCEAN SPRINGS
RECESS MEETING OF MAY 6, 2009 OF SPECIAL CALL MEETING OF APRIL 27, 2009
Be it remembered that the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the City of Ocean Springs met in a Recess meeting at City Hall in the City of Ocean Springs at 5:30 p.m. on May 6, 2009. Mayor Moran presiding, Aldermen McDonnell, Lloyd, Denyer and Dalgo were present. Also present were City Clerk Shelly Ferguson and City Attorney John Edwards. Aldermen Gill, Weaver and Hagan were absent.
OLD BUSINESS
Motion was made by Alderman Denyer and seconded by Alderman McDonnell to prepare a change order to redesign the splash pad with a French drain with single pass system pending DMR and agency approval and as much work as possible to be done in-house by the Public Works Department. Motion carried with Aldermen McDonnell, Lloyd and Denyer voting aye and Alderman Dalgo voting nay.
Motion was made by Alderman Denyer and seconded by Alderman Lloyd to prepare change order to change lights to the metal halide lights. Motion carried with Aldermen McDonnell, Lloyd and Denyer voting aye and Alderman Dalgo voting nay.
Alderman Gill arrives at the meeting at 5:45 p.m.
Alderman Weaver arrives at the meeting at 5:46 p.m.
Motion was made by Alderman Denyer, seconded by Alderman Lloyd and unanimously carried to table the issue of revising the power from 3 phase to single phase at Fort Maurepas Park.
Motion was made by Alderman Lloyd, seconded by Alderman McDonnell and unanimously carried to reconsider Tax Abatement Ordinance under different state statute that would allow up to 80% abatement of municipal ad valorem taxes for qualified commercial businesses for up to a period of seven (7) years so the County could follow suit.
Motion was made by Alderman Lloyd, seconded by Alderman Denyer and unanimously carried to adjourn the Special Call meeting.
