MAYOR AND BOARD OF ALDERMEN
CITY OF OCEAN SPRINGS

SPECIAL CALL MEETING JUNE 25, 2007

Be it remembered that the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the City of Ocean Springs met in a Special Call Meeting at City Hall in the City of Ocean Springs at 6:00 p.m. on June 25, 2007. Mayor Moran presiding, Aldermen Gill, McDonnell, Lloyd, Weaver, Dalgo and Hagan were present. Also present was City Clerk Adrienne Howell. Alderman Denyer was absent.

Mayor Moran called the meeting to order.

The Special Call Meeting is for the purpose of any and all matters pertaining to Alderman’s Forum and an Executive Session for interviews for the position of Police Chief and any other personnel issues.

EXECUTIVE SESSION

Motion was made by Alderman Gill, seconded by Alderman Weaver and unanimously carried to go into closed session to determine the necessity of going into executive session.

Motion was made by Alderman Gill, seconded by Alderman Weaver and unanimously carried to remain in executive session to conduct two interviews for the position of Police Chief.

Human Resources/Risk Manager Melessa Bryant, Captain Mark Dunston and the Civil Service Commissioners: Denise Jones, Wally Page and Reeves were in attendance. Alderman Denyer arrived during Executive Session at 6:30 p.m.

Motion was made by Alderman McDonnell, seconded by Alderman Denyer and unanimously carried to come out of executive session and return to regular session.

ALDERMAN’S FORUM

Motion was made by Alderman Dalgo, seconded by Alderman Gill and unanimously carried to place street lights on Quave Road at the locations marked by the Public Works Department.

Motion was made by Alderman Gill, seconded by Alderman Hagan and unanimously carried to authorize $1,700.00 from the Ward I Capital Improvement Fund for landscaping and fencing at Fort Maurepas.

Alderman Lloyd asked that candidates running for office be notified about the rules for the placement of political signs. Alderman Hagan said he will work with the Community Development Director and Code Enforcement on the issue.

Aldermen Lloyd and Dalgo both announced that they have withdrawn from the Finance Committee.

Motion was made by Alderman Hagan, seconded by Alderman McDonnell and unanimously carried to adjourn the special call meeting.
