MAYOR AND BOARD OF ALDERMEN
CITY OF OCEAN SPRINGS
SPECIAL CALL MEETING JULY 9, 2008
Be it remembered that the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the City of Ocean Springs met in a Special Call Meeting at City Hall in the City of Ocean Springs at 5:30 p.m. on July 9, 2008. Mayor Moran presiding, Aldermen Denyer, Dalgo and Hagan and Weaver were present. Also present was City Clerk Shelly Ferguson. Alderman Gill, McDonnell and Lloyd were absent.
Mayor Moran called the meeting to order.
The Special Call Meeting is for the purpose of any and all matters pertaining to approve the Contract for Landscape Architect, Joey Furr Design Studio, LLC, for Highway 57 Sports Complex Recreational Facilities of the Ocean Springs Master Plan, Discussion Item – Community Pier Update and Executive Session regarding personnel in the Police Department.
Motion was made by Alderman Weaver, seconded by Alderman Hagan and unanimously carried to approve the Contract between Landscape Architect, Joseph Furr Design Studio, LLC and the City of Ocean Springs to design the Highway 57 Sports Complex Recreational Facilities of the Ocean Springs Recreational Master Plan.
The Mayor announced there would be a meeting on July 10, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. with FEMA/MEMA representatives and the Jackson County Board of Supervisors to discuss the community pier, the fishing bridge and parking issues.
Motion was made by Alderman Denyer, seconded by Alderman Hagan and unanimously carried to go into closed session to determine the necessity of going into executive session.
The City Clerk returned to the meeting and announced that a motion was made by Alderman Hagan, seconded by Alderman Dalgo and unanimously carried to remain in executive session to discuss personnel in the Police Department.
Motion was made by Alderman Hagan, seconded by Alderman Denyer and unanimously carried to come out of executive session and return to regular session.
Motion was made by Alderman Hagan, seconded by Alderman Dalgo and unanimously carried to uphold the police chief’s personnel decision to ratify suspension without pay of an employee for July 3, 7, 8, 2008.
Motion was made by Alderman Denyer, seconded by Alderman Hagan and unanimously carried to adjourn the special call meeting.
