MAYOR AND BOARD OF ALDERMEN
CITY OF OCEAN SPRINGS
SPECIAL CALL MEETING JANUARY 4, 2008
Be it remembered that the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the City of Ocean Springs met in a Special Call Meeting at the Mary C. O’Keefe Cultural Center in the City of Ocean Springs at 12:00 p.m. on January 4, 2008. Mayor Moran presiding, Aldermen Gill, McDonnell, Lloyd, Weaver, Denyer, Dalgo and Hagan were present. Also present was City Clerk Shelly Ferguson.
Mayor Moran called the meeting to order.
The Special Call Meeting is for the purpose of any and all matters pertaining to discussion of initial improvements to Alice Street Tennis Facility with landscape architect Joey Furr, discuss financing/planning for public safety facility and recreational complexes to be funded by 2% levy on restaurants/lounges with financial advisor Demery Grubbs of Government Consultants and tour the rooms at Mary C. O’Keefe Cultural Arts Center with Betty Magee (includes rooms designated for City Museum and Café).
Motion was made by Alderman Denyer and seconded by Alderman Hagan to prepare bid specs for 4 tennis courts, paved parking and any other amenities such as benches and walkways with an alternate for 2 additional tennis courts per the Master Plan. Motion carried with Aldermen Gill, McDonnell, Weaver, Denyer, Dalgo and Hagan voting aye and Alderman Lloyd voting nay.
EXECUTIVE SESSION
Motion was made by Alderman Weaver, seconded by Alderman Gill and unanimously carried to go into closed session to determine the necessity of going into executive session.
Motion was made by Alderman Hagan, seconded by Alderman Weaver and unanimously carried to remain in executive session to discuss economic development regarding the public safety facilities.
Motion was made by Alderman Lloyd, seconded by Alderman Hagan and unanimously carried to come out of executive session and return to regular session.
Motion was made by Alderman Hagan, seconded by Alderman Weaver and unanimously carried to adjourn the special call meeting.
