MAYOR AND BOARD OF ALDERMEN
CITY OF OCEAN SPRINGS
SPECIAL CALL MEETING OF DECEMBER 7, 2009
Be it remembered that the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the City of Ocean Springs met in a Special Call meeting at City Hall in the City of Ocean Springs at 5:30 p.m. on December 7, 2009. Mayor Moran presiding, Aldermen Gill, Ross, Cody and Hagan were present. Also present were City Clerk Shelly Ferguson and City Attorney John Edwards. Aldermen McDonnell, Denyer and Dalgo were absent.
The Mayor called the meeting to order.
The Special Call Meeting is for the purpose of any and all matters pertaining to authorizing Mayor to execute Change Order No. 3 for Downtown Streetscape Project – CDBG Round 1 and Executive Session – Personnel in the Planning Department and Mayor’s Office.
Motion was made by Alderman Cody, seconded by Alderman Hagan and unanimously carried to authorize the Mayor to execute Change Order No. 3 for the Downtown Streetscape Project – CDBG Round 1 and plans for the closing of the intersections pending Mississippi Development Authority approval (Exhibit a).
EXECUTIVE SESSION
Motion was made by Alderman Hagan, seconded by Alderman Cody and unanimously carried to go into closed session to determine the necessity of going into executive session.
The City Clerk returned to the meeting and announced that a motion was made by Alderman Hagan, seconded by Alderman Cody and unanimously carried to remain in executive session to discuss personnel in the Planning Department and Mayor’s office.
Motion was made by Alderman Hagan, seconded by Alderman Ross and unanimously carried to come out of executive session and return to regular session.
Motion was made by Alderman Cody, seconded by Alderman Hagan and unanimously carried to remove Mike Watkins, Building Inspector, from probationary status and designate him as a full-time permanent status employee (Exhibit b).
Motion was made by Alderman Cody, seconded by Alderman Gill and unanimously carried to approve the job description for the Deputy Building Official and authorize to advertisement in-house for the position (Exhibit c)

Motion was made by Alderman Hagan, seconded by Alderman Cody and unanimously carried to hire a temporary employee as Executive Assistant up to 30 hours per week, hourly $12.00 and amend the budget accordingly.
Motion was made by Alderman Hagan, seconded by Alderman McDonnell and unanimously carried to adjourn the special call meeting.
Meeting ended at 6:34 p.m.
