MAYOR AND BOARD OF ALDERMEN
CITY OF OCEAN SPRINGS
SPECIAL CALL MEETING AUGUST 29, 2008
Be it remembered that the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the City of Ocean Springs met in a Special Call Meeting at City Hall in the City of Ocean Springs at 7:30 a.m. on August 29, 2008. Mayor Moran presiding, Aldermen Gill, McDonnell, Lloyd, Weaver, Denyer, Dalgo and Hagan were present. Also present was City Clerk Shelly Ferguson.
Mayor Moran called the meeting to order.
The Special Call Meeting is for the purpose of any and all matters pertaining to the Proclamation of existence of a local emergency.
Motion was made by Alderman McDonnell, seconded by Alderman Dalgo and unanimously carried to name Greg Denyer as Shelter Manager, Connie Moran as Street Commissioner and Andre Kaufman as Disaster Coordinator as authority positions without additional pay with the exception of Disaster Coordinator Andre Kaufman.
Motion was made by Alderman McDonnell, seconded by Alderman Gill and unanimously carried to proclaim the existence of a local emergency by the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the City of Ocean Springs, Mississippi.
Motion was made by Alderman McDonnell, seconded by Alderman Hagan and unanimously carried to order magnetic signs for emergency response team.
Motion was made by Alderman Gill, seconded by Alderman Denyer and unanimously carried to create Hurricane Gustav fund accounts.
Motion was made by Alderman Denyer, seconded by Alderman Hagan and unanimously carried to spread upon the minutes the Statement of Agreement for the Use of Facilities as Command Station between the Ocean Springs School District and the City of Ocean Springs.
Motion was made by Alderman Denyer, seconded by Alderman McDonnell and unanimously carried to name Kim Prentice as the Emergency Management Coordinator.
Motion was made by Alderman Denyer, seconded by Alderman McDonnell and unanimously carried to authorize the Mayor to execute the Addendum to the Delta Sanitation Collection and Haul Agreement with the intent to provide emergency household waste collection in the event of a disaster.
Motion was made by Alderman Hagan, seconded by Alderman Dalgo and unanimously carried to adjourn the special call meeting.
