MAYOR AND BOARD OF ALDERMEN
CITY OF OCEAN SPRINGS
SPECIAL CALL MEETING AUGUST 27, 2007
Be it remembered that the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the City of Ocean Springs met in a Special Call Meeting at City Hall in the City of Ocean Springs at 5:30 p.m. on August 27, 2007. Mayor Moran presiding, Aldermen Gill, McDonnell, Weaver and Denyer were present. Alderman Lloyd, Dalgo and Hagan were absent. Also present was Deputy City Clerk Mindy McDowell.
The Mayor called the meeting to order.
The Special Call Meeting is for the purpose of any and all matters pertaining to designating an Applicant Agent for FEMA/MEMA, accept the resignation of Melessa Bryant as Human Resources/Risk Manager and begin advertising for the position, authorize payment to James R. Quintano for labor and adopt dates regarding public hearing and adoption of the FY08 budget and recessed meetings.
Motion was made by Alderman Gill, seconded by Alderman McDonnell and unanimously carried to designate the Mayor as the Applicant Agent with FEMA/MEMA with the Public Works Director as the second (Exhibit 1).
Motion was made by Alderman Weaver, seconded by Alderman Denyer and unanimously carried to accept the resignation of Melessa Bryant as the Human Resources/Risk Manager.
Motion was made by Alderman McDonnell, seconded by Alderman Gill and unanimously carried to authorize the Mayor to meet with the Human Resources Committee and the staff to discuss restructuring the Human Resources Department and rewrite the job description.
Motion was made by Alderman Denyer, seconded by Alderman McDonnell and unanimously carried to authorize payment to James R. Quintano in the amount of $1,200.00 for labor (Exhibit 3).
Motion was made by Alderman Gill, seconded by Alderman Weaver and unanimously carried to authorize an annual salary increase for Deputy Chief of Police Mark Dunston to $53,000.00 effective retroactively to the date of his promotion, August 21, 2007.
Motion was made by Alderman McDonnell, seconded by Alderman Gill and unanimously carried to adopt the dates for the FY08 budget and recessed meetings.
Motion was made by Alderman McDonnell, seconded by Alderman Gill and unanimously carried to adjourn the special call meeting.
