Ocean Springs, MS — Ocean Springs Police Department (OSPD) has met the requirements ofthe Mississippi Law Enforcement Accreditation Program. The Mississippi Law Enforcement Accreditation Commissioners unanimously approved OSPD for three years of Mississippi State Re-Accreditation at their February 17, 2016 commission meeting.
"Achieving reaccreditation is no easy task. The officers and employees of the Ocean Springs Police Department have demonstrated their commitment to continue providing professional police services for our community,” said Police Chief Mark Dunston. "This reaccreditation reflects our commitment to our community.”
Mississippi Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission develops and administers this program in order to recognize professional excellence in the law enforcement community. Through an alliance partnership with the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA), they utilize the national standards that cover (1) life, health, safety, legal and other critical law enforcement requirements affecting agency and public interests; and (2) the reduction of major risk and high liability conditions for both the agency and the employees.
