Bollards to be installed along Government Street in Downtown Ocean Springs

Ocean Springs, MS – The city will be installing bollards to replace the use of barricades for special events using Government Street. The construction for the installation of these bollards will take place at the intersection side streets along Government Street and will begin this week. The locations along Government Street will include the intersections from Washington Avenue, east to and including Denny Avenue. Construction will take place over the next few months. As streets are closed for construction, no parking and detour signs will be placed as needed.

Bollards are short posts that aid in creating a physical barrier to help better protect pedestrians, property and guide traffic. The bollards will be an extremely valuable addition to providing safety for event goers in Ocean Springs and will help to free up police officers who would otherwise have to remain at intersections.
