    Ocean Springs Releases Revised DRAFT of the Unified Development Code – Public Hearing to be Scheduled

    Ocean Springs, MS. –

    A revised DRAFT of the proposed Unified Development Code has been posted on the city’s website.  This draft, dated November 21, 2018, reflects input received from the public and the Planning Commission.  Public meetings were held April 12th and 19th and the Public Hearing was held September 25, 2018 at the Mary C. O’Keefe Cultural Center in Ocean Springs.

    The current draft is available for comment and will be reviewed by the Planning Commission.  A second Public Hearing will be scheduled for after the New Year and a Press Release will be issued once the date has been confirmed.

    Written comments will continue to be accepted on the most current DRAFT document.  A deadline for written comments will be established once the Public Hearing date has been determined.  They can be submitted either:

    §  Via email to planningadmin@oceansprings-ms.gov with "UDC COMMENTS” in the reference line, OR

    The purpose of the UDC is to consolidate and replace the current Zoning Ordinance Code and Subdivision Regulations that were first adopted in 1984.  The UDC will update, streamline, and clarify these land development regulations while incorporating lessons learned and current development and regulatory issues.  Elements of the UDC include but are not limited to : Zoning and subdivision regulations; development review procedures; landscaping and design standards; stormwater and floodplain management; roads and sidewalks; utility standards and the public approval process for development.

    City residents and those that do business with the City are encouraged to review the Draft UDC and participate in the review and Public Hearing process.
