NEWS - MARDI GRAS NIGHT PARADE

On the evening of Friday, February 24, 2017, the Ocean Springs Mardi Gras night parade will roll through our downtown streets. The route for the parade begins on Front Beach near the Ocean Springs Yacht Club, then goes east on Porter Avenue, north on Washington Avenue, and east on Government Street, ending at Holcomb Blvd.

At approximately 5:45 p.m. on Friday, officers will deploy the barricades to close off the streets in preparation for the parade. At the end of the parade, officers will pull the barricades to allow vehicle traffic to flow. The event should be over around 10:00 p.m.

Police Chief Mark Dunston states, "The safety of our citizens and visitors is a priority. Keep yourself and your children out of the roadways; parade trucks and floats need room to navigate. Our officers will continue to enforce City ordinances, including no glass bottles and the Entertainment District ‘go-cup’ ordinance. As always, have fun, but be safe, alert, and responsible.”

Be patient and allow extra time for travel before, during, and after the parade – whether you are attending or not. Slow-moving parade floats will be traveling to and from the area before and after the event, including on Bienville Blvd and North Washington Avenue. Vehicle and pedestrian traffic also will be high.

    Thank you.
