Construction Begins on Porter Avenue Infrastructure Improvement Project

Ocean Springs, MS. – After awarding the anticipated Porter Avenue Infrastructure Improvement Project earlier this month, Lane Construction Company of Mississippi, Inc. will begin work to improve sidewalk connections on Porter Avenue west of Martin Avenue. The $1.2 million project is funded by MDOT through the State Transportation Improvement Plan, matched with local funds from the City of Ocean Springs, Jackson County, and Bond Proceeds from the MS Department of Finance.

The project will include improvements to existing sidewalks, completion of sidewalk connections, and drainage improvements. Additionally, the roadway will be rebuilt, causing there to be occasional, temporary lane closures and some sections with limestone surface while the project is underway.

Construction activity will be starting on or about Friday, December 1st. Caution is encouraged throughout the construction area for everyone including motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians.
