Ocean Springs seeks School Board Candidates for 2017-22 Term
Ocean Springs, MS -- Ocean Springs Mayor Connie Moran and the Board of Aldermen invite interested residents within the City limits to submit an application for consideration to serve a five-year term for the Ocean Springs School Board, beginning March 1, 2017, and ending February 28, 2022.
The application may be found on the City website under Boards and Commissions at www.oceansprings-ms.gov
, or may be picked up at City Hall Mayor’s Office at 1018 Porter Avenue. Deadline for receipt of the applications to be delivered to the Mayor’s Office, along with a resume or other pertinent information, is 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 17. The Board will make a decision on a school board district representative at their recessed meeting on February 21, based on the applications received and possible interviews.

The Ocean Springs School Board of Directors governs the policies, personnel and budget of the Ocean Springs School District. The Ocean Springs Board of Aldermen appoint one member of the School Board each year for a five-year term, and approves the funding of the requested budget by setting millage to generate funds requested as required by state statute. School Board members outside the City limits are elected by residents in districts they represent.
