Ocean Springs Dedicates Porter Avenue Infrastructure Improvement Project
OCEAN SPRINGS, MISS. – City and county representatives will be joined by Commissioner Tom King, Southern Transportation District, and other officials from the area for a dedication to mark the completion of a pedestrian safety project on Porter Avenue. This project included sidewalk, roadway and drainage improvements. Construction was awarded to Lane Construction, LLC with engineering provided by Neel Schaffer, Inc. The project was funded by the Federal Highway Administration and appropriated through the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) and the Gulf Regional Planning Commission.
"The Porter Avenue project will provide improved pedestrian access and parking between Williams Street and Martin Avenue,” King said. "MDOT is glad to assist in this project to improve safety and increase economic activity.”
"We appreciate the partnership with MDOT and the Gulf Regional Planning Commission, as well as the patience of the businesses and residents impacted by this project,” said Mayor Shea Dobson. "These improvements will enhance pedestrian activity on Porter for the benefit of everyone in the area.”
The dedication event will take place on Wednesday, November 14th at 10:00 a.m. at the Crooked Letter Brewery, 503 Porter Avenue.
