    Minutes - November 14 , 2018 - 2:30 p.m. Special Call Meeting

    SPECIAL CALL MEETING NOVEMBER 14, 2018


    Be it remembered that the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the City of Ocean Springs met in a Special Call Meeting at City Hall in the City of Ocean Springs at 6:00 p.m. on November 14, 2018.  Mayor Dobson presiding, Aldermen Cox, Gill, Authement, Bellman, Papania and Blackman were present.  Alderman Impey was absent.  Also present was City Clerk Patty Gaston and City Attorney Kevin Melchi. 

    The Mayor called the meeting to order.

    The Special Call Meeting is for the purpose of any and all matters pertaining to authorize the Mayor to execute an Interlocal Governmental Agreement between Jackson County, Mississippi, and the cities of Gautier, Moss Point, Ocean Springs and Pascagoula, Mississippi for the provision of animal housing services and facilities in the amount of $500.00 annually which is a $9,500.00 reduction of the current annual fee of $10,000.00 (Exhibit-a), authorize the Mayor to execute a memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the MS Department of Finance and Administration for the issuance of State Bonds Related to MS HB 2002 (BP Settlement) for Water/Sewer Infrastructure Improvements (Exhibit-b), and executive session – interview candidates for the Deputy City Clerk position.

    Motion was made by Alderman Gill, seconded by Alderman Blackman and unanimously carried to authorize the Mayor to execute an Interlocal Governmental Agreement between Jackson County, Mississippi, and the cities of Gautier, Moss Point, Ocean Springs and Pascagoula, Mississippi for the provision of animal housing services and facilities in the amount of $500.00 annually (Exhibit-a).

    EXECUTIVE SESSION

    Motion was made by Alderman Cox, seconded by Alderman Blackman and unanimously carried to go into closed session to determine the necessity of going into executive session. 

    Motion was made by Alderman Cox, seconded by Alderman Papania and unanimously carried to remain in executive session to interview candidates for the Deputy City Clerk position.

    Motion was made by Alderman Cox, seconded by Alderman Gill and unanimously carried to hire Vicky Hupe as the Deputy City Clerk. 

    Motion was made by Alderman Blackman, seconded by Alderman Cox and unanimously carried to set the salary for the hire of Vicky Hupe as the Deputy City Clerk at $36,000.00.

    Motion was made by Alderman Gill, seconded by Alderman Blackman and unanimously carried to return to regular session. 

    Motion was made by Alderman Cox, seconded by Alderman Bellman and unanimously carried to adjourn the Special Call meeting.

    The meeting ended at 8:07 p.m.
