SPECIAL CALL MEETING MARCH 11, 2019
Be it remembered that the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the City of Ocean Springs met in a Special Call meeting at City Hall in the City of Ocean Springs at 5:00 p.m. on March 11, 2019. The Mayor presiding, Aldermen Cox, Gill, Authement, Bellman, Papania, and Blackman were present. Also present were City Clerk Patty Gaston and City Attorney Kevin Melchi. Alderman Impey was absent.
The Mayor called the meeting to order.
The Special Call Meeting is for the purpose of any and all matters pertaining to the declaration of local emergency on Front Beach and approval of a Mississippi Power Company maintenance proposal for the Beach Blvd. lighting in Ocean Springs, Mississippi.
The City Attorney explained that the declaration of local emergency is needed to free the funds to rectify the Front Beach lighting situation as quickly as possible.
Alderman Blackman inquired about what exactly is covered in the maintenance proposal from Mississippi Power. Aldermen Cox and Authement explained the repairs will take place in two phases and include all of the poles that are not currently operating but will not include any conduit repairs. Alderman Blackman is concerned that there will be conduit repairs needed.
Motion was made by Alderman Blackman, seconded by Alderman Authement and unanimously carried to accept the resolution proclaiming the existence of a local emergency by the City of Ocean Springs, Mississippi (Exhibit a).
Motion was made by Alderman Cox, seconded by Alderman Gill and unanimously carried to approve the Mississippi Power Company maintenance proposal for the Front Beach lighting in Ocean Springs, Mississippi (Exhibit b).
Motion was made by Alderman Blackman, seconded by Alderman Authement and unanimously carried to adjourn the Special Call meeting.
The meeting ended at 5:10 p.m.
