    Minutes - June 22, 2018 - 8:00 a.m. Special Call Meeting

    SPECIAL CALL MEETING OF JUNE 22, 2018

    Be it remembered that the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the City of Ocean Springs met in a Special Call meeting at City Hall in the City of Ocean Springs at 8:00 a.m. on June 22, 2018.  The Mayor presiding, Aldermen Cox, Gill, Authement, Bellman, Papania, Blackman, and Impey were present.  Also present was Deputy City Clerk Patty Gaston and City Attorney Kevin Melchi.

    The purpose of the Special Call Meeting is to discuss any and all matters pertaining to retiring Captain’s duty weapon and Mississippi Rising Coalition litigation.

    Motion made by Alderman Gill, seconded by Alderman Cox and unanimously carried to authorize retiring Captain Mike Ducote to purchase his duty weapon from the City of Ocean Springs for $1.00. (Exhibit a)

    Motion made by Alderman Cox, seconded by Alderman Gill and unanimously carried to go into closed session to determine the necessity of remaining in Executive Session.

    The Deputy City Clerk returned to the boardroom and announced a motion was made by Alderman Gill, seconded by Alderman Cox and unanimously carried to remain in Executive Session to discuss litigation regarding Mississippi Rising Coalition.

    EXECUTIVE SESSION

    Motion made by Alderman Impey, seconded by Alderman Cox and unanimously carried to come out of Executive Session and return to the open meeting. 

    Motion made by Alderman Impey, seconded by Alderman Cox to authorize the city attorney to move forward with seeking sanctions and/or attorney fees against the plaintiffs in the Mississippi Rising Coalition litigation.  Motion passes with Aldermen Cox, Gill, Bellman, Papania, Blackman, and Impey voting aye.  Alderman Authement voting nay.

    Motion made by Alderman Impey, seconded by Alderman Cox and unanimously carried to adjourn the Special Call Meeting.

    The meeting ended at 8:23 a.m.
