SPECIAL CALL MEETING JANUARY
Be it remembered that the Mayor and
Board of Aldermen of the City of Ocean Springs met in a Special Call meeting at
Butler Snow, 1020 Highland Colony Parkway, Jackson, Mississippi on January 15,
2020 at 2:30 p.m. The Mayor presiding,
Aldermen Gill, Authement, Papania and Blackman were present. Aldermen Cox, Bellman
and Impey were absent. Also present were City Clerk Patty Gaston and City
Attorney Nicole Sullivan.
Let the minutes reflect that proper
notice of the meeting was provided to all Aldermen via email and that the
notice was posted at City Hall and online within one hour of the meeting being
The Mayor called the meeting to order.
The Special Call Meeting is for the
purpose of any and all matters pertaining to a special session for Butler Snow
attorney, Troy Johnston, to do a presentation to the Board of Aldermen
regarding potential Tax Increment Financing (TIF) projects.
Butler Snow attorneys, Troy Johnston,
Parker Berry and Sam Noblin, and government consultants, Steve Pittman and
Jamie Holloway, discussed the Tax Increment Financing (TIF) process and the tools
it offers the City for Economic Development regarding infrastructure projects
for public and private development. The Aldermen are considering updating the
City Comprehensive/General Plan and developing a Redevelopment Plan; both would
prepare the City to move forward if an opportunity arises.
The Mayor thanked Butler Snow for
hosting the training session.
was made by Alderman Blackman, seconded by Alderman Papania and
unanimously carried to adjourn the Special Call meeting.
