6. CONSENT AGENDA
Mayor:
a) Authorize the Mayor to serve on the Board of Directors of the Congress for the New Urbanism (Exhibit 6-a)
b) Authorize the Mayor to execute the Contract between the City of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, and Elizabeth Veglia for the Mosiac Mural for Ocean Springs Bridge Panels (Exhibit 6-b)
City Clerk:
c) Approve Minutes: Regular Meeting March 4, 2008 (Exhibit 6-c)
d) Approve payment: Docket of Claims and spread upon the Minutes (Exhibit 6-d)
e) Authorize payment to Joe Gill Consulting, LLC, in the amount of $2,025.00 (Exhibit  6-e)
f) Accept Action Report (Exhibit 6-f)
g) Authorize employment of Gina Bitgood, Accounting Assistant, annual salary $28,000.00, effective March 19, 2008, probationary period six-months, pending successful completion of all pre-employment requirements (Exhibit 6-g)
h) Authorize various office equipment and furniture to be declared surplus and of no value to the City and sent to Jackson County auction (Exhibit 6-h)
Police Dept.:
i) Authorize promotion of Patrolman Patrick Brandle to Patrolman 3rd Class, hourly rate $13.94, effective immediately due to completion of one-year probation period (Exhibit 6-i)
j) Authorize employment of Chester Ray Wescovich, Patrolman 2nd Class, annual salary $31,000, effective April 2, 2008, probation for one-year, pending successful completion of all pre-employment requirements (Exhibit 6-j)
k) Authorize the Grants Administrator to apply for FY 2007 Hurricane Relief Funds for Ocean Springs Police Department (Exhibit 6-k)
l) Acceptance of insurance checks to be deposited into the General Fund and amend the Police Department budget accordingly (Exhibit 6-l)
m) Authorize vehicles and office equipment to be declared surplus and of no value to the City and sent to Jackson County auction (Exhibit 6-m)
n) Authorize salary increase for Animal Control Officer Alvin Flowers  to an hourly rate of $15.38/annually $31,990.40, and amend the budget accordingly (Exhibit 6-n)
Fire Dept.:
o) Authorize removal of Jeffrey Ponson, Deputy Chief,  from probationary status and placement on full time status, effective March 24, 2008 (Exhibit 6-o)
p) Authorize acceptance of resignation of Firefighter Daniel Hutchens, effective March 7, 2008,  and authorize beginning the process to fill the vacancy (Exhibit 6-p)
Human Resources/Risk:
q) Authorize Builder’s Risk Insurance for H.R. Cottage and amend budget accordingly (Exhibit 6-q)

r) Authorize promotion of Ron Forsyth to Assistant Supervisor in the Maintenance Department, hourly rate $17.48, effective immediately (Exhibit 6-r)
s) Authorize equipment and vehicles declared surplus and of no value to the City and sent to Jackson County auction (Exhibit 6-s)
t) Award bid to O’Brian Construction, LLC for Government Street sidewalk in the amount of $84,966.40 and walkway over Heron Bayou in the amount of $206,689.80 (Exhibit 6-t)
Community Development & Planning:
u) Accept Tree Committee Report (Exhibit 6-u)
v) Authorize two (2) vehicles, 1994 Ford F-150 XL and 1995 Ford F-150 XL, to be declared surplus and of no value to the City and sent to Jackson County auction (Exhibit 6-v)
w) Authorize demolition of structure located at 512 Williams Avenue (Exhibit 6-w)
x) Authorize building permit for a private bridge for a driveway at 321 Shearwater Drive (Exhibit 6-x)
Planning Commission:
y) Accept Planning Commissions recommendation to approve rezoning at 1516 Government Street from C-1 to C-2 (Exhibit 6-y)
z) Accept Planning Commissions recommendation to approve sketch plat for Phase II of the South Breeze Planned Unit Development (Exhibit 6-z)
aa) Accept Planning Commission recommendation to approve final plat request for Armand Oaks Phase II (Exhibit 6-aa)
Historic Preservation Commission:
bb) Accept Historic Preservation Commissions recommendation to allow construction of fence at 1401 Bowen Avenue (Exhibit 5-bb)
