a) Authorize waiver of rental fee of the Community Center on April 22, 2007 for the Duchess Club Spring Tea (Exhibit 7-a)
b) Approve restructuring of Community Development and Planning Department, with Director of Community Planning and Development overseeing two distinct divisions: the Planning Division and the Building Division. The City Planner would oversee the Planning Division and the Senior Building Official would oversee the Building Department, including Building Inspectors, Permit Clerks and Supervisors (Exhibit 7-b)
c) Authorize the creation of the City Planner position at a salary range of $43,000.00 – $47,000.00 to report to the Director of Community Development and Planning and to oversee the Assistant Planning Director, Arborist, Landscaper and Planning Clerks. Request approval of job description and authorization to advertise initially in-house for the City Planner position. If no candidate who applies in-house is selected, then authorize to advertise externally (Exhibit 7-c)
d) Authorize extension of advertisement for the positions of Assistant City Planner and Director of Community Development and Planning (Exhibit 7-d)
e) Authorize employment of Greg Wilson, Building Official, annual salary $45,000.00, effective February 12, 2007
f) Authorize employment of Melissa Holland Bryant, Human Resources Manager, annual salary $40,000, effective February 12, 2007 to report to the Office of the Mayor
g) Accept the letter of intent to retire from Ocean Springs Police Department from Kerry Belk, Chief of Police, effective February 28, 2007 and appoint Captain Lionel Cothern as Interim Chief of Police (Exhibit 7-g)
h) Authorize advertisement of Chief of Police position, to include both internal and external candidates
i) Authorize advertising position in-house for Deputy Chief of Police, and if no candidate is selected, then to advertise externally
j) Authorize employment of Kristi Crowell, Administrative Assistant to the Mayor and City Clerk, hourly rate $12.00, effective March 1, 2007 (Exhibit 7-j)
